Cambridge English Language Assessment - JP004 (Luna International):

Oral Examiner training for Young Learners Exams (Cambridge ESOL)

Date: Sunday, November 12th, 2006 Time: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Speaker: Owen Davies

Description:
There will be a training session on November 12th for experienced teachers interested in becoming Oral Examiners (OEs) for the speaking test components of Cambridge ESOL's YLE exams. All three levels of YLE (Starters, Movers, and Flyers) will be covered. Potential OEs will be shown how the tests 'work', practice delivering the test with peers. Assessment criteria will be explained, and a number of candidates will be watched on video to standardise assessment. Professional teachers interested in attending the session should contact Cambridge ESOL Team Leader (Eastern Japan) Jim George esol.centre@gmail.com for a copy of the Minimum Professional Requirements (MPRs) and to reserve a place. There is a training fee of Y6,300, which is not refundable. Please note that attending the session does not guarantee that you will be accepted by Cambridge ESOL as an oral examiner. Before any new OEs are allowed to examine, they must also be co-ordinated; a co-ordination session will be held late spring 2007. All OEs must attend a co-ordination session at least once every 2 years to maintain their examiner status. You are encouraged to familiarise yourself with Cambridge ESOL's YLE exams prior to the training session, details of which can be found at www.cambridgeesol.org/exams/yle.htm
