Description:
(Please note, FEW monthly meetings are women-only events.)
Ever daydreamed about a career as a writer? Ever wondered how you could turn your experiences in Japan into a publishable work of literature? Curious about the process of writing? Renowned author Barry Eisler (
Rain Fall)will address these questions. As he leads us through the writing process, Barry's presentation will cover the following topics:
- Quick introduction: Who is John Rain, and what are the Rain books?
- Where did Rain come from (serendipity, and how to find it)?
- Using what you know (the easy part)
- Finding out what you don't know (the fun part)
- Creating fiction against a nonfiction setting (is Rain real?)
- What not to do if you're writing about Japan (Japan is just like the West / Japan is totally different)
- What's so special about Tokyo, anyway?
