SCBWI:

'Terrific, I 'm Going to Be Eaten By Sharks.' Telling Funny Stories in Words and Pictures

Date: Friday, April 17th, 2009 Time: 6:30 PM - 8:30 PM

Speaker: Jon Agee

Description:
In this two hour workshop author/illustrator Jon Agee will describe and illustrate how he takes an off-the-wall idea and works it into a dynamic 32-page word-picture narrative. He'll use models from his books and others to show how to choreograph pacing, set-ups, and punch lines. He 'll show how he develops characters and composes pictures. Participants are encouraged to bring in works in progress or concepts that need fleshing out. Stories and ideas don't need to be funny. They could be unique twists on classic stories, or alphabet or counting books.
