SCBWI Japan Illustration Day: Perfect Partners: Text and Art and the Visual Narrative of Picture Books

Date: Sunday, November 20th, 2016 Time: 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM

Speaker: Illustrator Barbara McClintock

Join Barbara McClintock for a four-hour workshop with hands-on activities focused on what makes a successful picture book narrative. We'll explore how text and illustrations work together to create storytelling that is compelling to a very young child who is just beginning to make the connection between written words and their meanings, as well as older children and even adults who love stories told with pictures and text. Writers, artists, teachers, librarians and translators will find ways to either create visual narratives for picture books, or access and enjoy picture books by learning to look for the balance and nuance in telling a story with both text and pictures.
