The Art of Balancing Different Writing Genres: EFL Materials, Academic Books/Papers, and Fiction

Featured Speaker Dr. Diane Hawley Nagatomo, recently retired from Ochanomizu University, and the author of 25 EFL textbooks, will give an interactive presentation, drawing on many years of experience with writing and publishing.

Her talk will be followed by paper presentations that explore issues in English language teaching in Japan. We are aiming to create a friendly environment for sharing research and teaching ideas, and welcome proposals from graduate students and teachers. Presentations on the following topics would be ideal:

  • Content-based approaches: Using literature in language teaching
  • Communicative approaches: Motivation
