This conference is co sponsored by the Japan Association for Language Teaching (JALT) Special Interest Groups: Gender Awareness in Language Teaching (GALE), Global Issues in Language Education (GILE), Professionalism, Administration, and Leadership (PALE) as well as Women Educators and Language Learners (WELL), Japan Environmental Exchange (JEE), JAPANetwork (an AIDs information NGO), The Journal of Engaged Pedagogy and The Hague Appeal for Peace Global Campaign for Peace Education Japan.

Our conference offers two full days of workshops, presentations, and displays in English, Japanese, and some bilingually (Japanese and English). There are approximately sixty workshops and presentations over the two conference days. Conference themes include understanding and teaching about peace, gender, minority rights, environmental issues, language identity and rights issues, employment and labor issues, conflict resolution, cooperative learning, humanistic teaching, foreign language education, cross-cultural understanding, and other related themes. The conference is of interest to English and Japanese speaking teachers, students, activists and others interested in the themes of human rights, peace, and education.
