Sneak Preview of the National JALT Conference

Speaker: Linda Kadota and Ian Nakamura

Description:
To whet your appetite for the National JALT Conference in Shizuoka, Nov. 21-24, Linda Kadota and Ian Nakamura will give special previews of their national presentations.

  • Professor Kadota of Matsuyama Shinonome College will lead a talk entitled quot;Intercultural Video Conference Exchange: Pros/Cons." Various kinds of videoconferencing hardware and software will be introduced. The advantages and disadvantages of virtual intercultural interaction will be delineated.
  • Professor Nakamura of Okayama University will lead a presentation entitled "Understanding a Learner's Interview Responses." He will show how teacher-student interviews can offer fresh insight into students' attempts to communicate. Excerpts from transcripts will be examined.
