Nagano JALT:

Reading - how to turn students of any age into bookworms

Date: Sunday, January 30th, 2005 Time: 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM

Speaker: Oliver Bayley from Oxford University Press

Description:
Oliver Bayley of Oxford University Press will give a presentation on the use of the Oxford University Press graded readers. There is definitely a reading "boom" in Japan at the moment, with more interest in reading (and particularly extensive reading) than ever before. While examining why graded reading can have such a huge impact on learners, Bayley will look at how teachers are currently using graded readers in various schools, as well as some of the latest graded readers from Oxford University Press (including the Dolphin series for young children)and a variety of fun and effective activity types for students of all ages. This is a practical presentation particularly useful for all teachers looking for ways to improve the reading skills of their students.
