Use of Picture Books in Young Learners' Classes

Outline: In this hands-on workshop, the participants will be shown how to use picture books, before reading, during reading, and after reading. In the last half of the workshop, they will 1) choose books 2) make lesson plans, and 3) read, and do activities.

Yuco Kikuchi is an EFL teacher based in Chiba. She is an organizing member of the ETJ (English Teachers in Japan) East Tokyo regional group and has given presentations at ETJ Expos and JALT national conferences. She also presented at Asia TEFL in 2015. She obtained Band 4s of TKT(University of Cambridge Teaching Knowledge Test) Young Learners Module and Module 3, and Band 3s of Modules 1 and 2 in November 2015. She teaches from elementary school children to older learners in Chiba and Tokyo. Her current interests are CLIL, ER, and learner autonomy.
