Educators in all fields are invited to the annual Japan ASCD Spring Conference. This year's theme, Energizing Learning presents six speakers to provide a variety of professional development opportunities:

  • Jo Gusman: Diverse Brains, Diverse Learners: Understanding the Complex World of your ESL students;
  • Don Campbell: The Power of Music in Education: Exploring the Ear, the Brain and the Body through Sound;
  • Kip Cates: Global Education: Teaching for a Better World;
  • Nancy J. Johnson: Literature Circles: Active Reading/Engaged Readers;
  • Jim Moulton: Beyond Could, Past Should, to Must: the Role of Digital Technology & Project-Based Learning in a Student-Centered Classroom;
  • Spence Rogers: Using Assessment to Increase Motivation and Learning
Full conference registration includes one workshop of your preference on Friday and Saturday and a condensed version of another workshop on Sunday AM. The keynote speaker, Jo Gusman is a nationally recognized ESL teacher and exceptional trainer of teachers who work with ESL students. You will learn new and innovative techniques for helping your ESL students. Don Campbell, author of The Mozart Effect for Children will show you how to stimulate mental growth, enhance development and creativity by applying music to the curriculum and the classroom. You will have the opportunity to review, request samples, and/or purchase books and other educational materials. Two semester credit is available through San Diego State University. Clock Hour Certificates will be available to all participants.
