ETJ Kagoshima:

Ideas for Teaching Phonics to Japanese Children and Beginners

Date: Sunday, October 15th, 2006 Time: 2:00 PM - 4:30 PM

Speaker: Yayoi Aoki

Description:
First of all, Yayoi will describe the difference in how to catch the sounds of Japanese and native English speakers. She show the mistakes which Japanese people tend to typically make. Based on those, she will propose a method and related activities considered to be intelligible to Japanese children. This presentation concentrates on the fundamental stages of teaching and provides the required foundation in order that students may speak English fluently. There will be a second presentation given by another teacher on the same topic, with time for questions and discussion. The presentations will be followed by a refreshment break and bazaar, proceeds from which help pay the meeting expenses. Donation of teaching materials for the bazaar are most welcome. There will be a short committee meeting after the event and all members are welcome to attend.
